Aggregate Producers Report Siphoning of Fuel
The Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (OSSGA) has recently been alerted to a series of fuel thefts in the Stouffville area, just north of Toronto.

According to several reports from local aggregate producers, thieves with self-contained vans and pumps operate at night by cutting off the fill pipe lock, dropping down a pump and siphoning what they can - in some cases as much as 22,000 litres of fuel.

The OSSGA is advising its members to render fill pipes inaccessible by parking heaving equipment at strategic locations.

Ballooning fuel prices are being blamed for the recent spike in thefts across the province.

OSSGA Bids Farewell to Former Chairman & Industry Legend
It is with great sadness that the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (OSSGA) reports the death of industry veteran Ian Jennings. Ian, who served as chairman of the association's Board of Directors in 1963 (then known as the Aggregate Producers Association of Ontario), passed away on the morning of July 31, 2008. He was 92 years old.

Family, friends and colleagues are invited to gather in celebration of Ian’s life at 2:00 p.m. on August 28, 2008 at the Oakville Golf Club (1154 Sixth Line). Donations should go to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital or to Toronto’s Rosedale United Church. Cards of condolence can be sent to Ian’s widow Sarah and their sons (Doug, Tony, James, Micheil and Fraser) at: 405 - 100 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville, ON L6J 6M9.

Ian's passing is a great loss to the industry and those of us who knew him well. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Jennings family at this sad and difficult time.
